Academics

Curriculum

We believe that it is important to teach critical thinking skills as well as academic fundamentals. City Christian Schools are very strong in Phonics in our reading programs. Our complete language program includes daily oral language, a strong spelling text, language mechanics, and an emphasis on writing skills.

The new Heath math books stress mental math and problem solving strategies for applications and development. The Saxon book includes incremental math instruction emphasizing computations and conceptualization which allows the student to build skills yearly and make it applicable to everyday life. Yearly math competitions on a state and national level add incentive for our students. Science texts by Bob Jones include challenging experiments, informative articles, and applicable projects. Inquisitive students from grades 4, 7, and 10 integrate curiosity and research in a yearly science fair. In addition to academics, educational field trips and community outreaches prepare students for active citizenship.

City Christian Schools strive for the highest goals in school achievement. Our students are tested yearly with the California Achievement Tests to measure their success. The students regulary average 2-3 grade levels above national norms. Recognition of accomplishment is an important part of encouraging students to do their best. Students from grades 1-12 are recognized with scholastic, academic, and character awards every month.
