City Christian School exists for
the purpose of producing godly citizens
who are a transforming influence in the world.
|
We will accomplish this by encouraging the growth of each student in the following areas:
- Spiritual Development: promoting the growth of each student's personal relationship with God, and developing godly character that reflects the nature of God and the fruit of His Spirit in conversation, actions, and attitudes.
- Academic Excellence: teaching a core curriculum of English, history, mathematics, science, physical education, music, and the arts with the goal of the mastery of all subjects by every student and the ability of each student to apply what they learn to real-life situations.
- Personal Development: guiding each student to realize his God-given destiny through the development of his or her spiritual gifts, individual talents, and career choices.
- Serving the Community: building in each student a sense of personal responsibility to serve the world and our neighbors through service projects, mission trips, community involvement, and leadership training.
- Strengthening the Body: helping each student develop a lifestyle of physical health through sports, good nutrition, physical activity and health education.
City Christian School is guided by the following foundational principles:
- Christ-Centered Focus
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Person in, through, and for Whom all life exists. He is
the embodiment of the Word and of all truth. Education, personal growth, and the realization of one's full destiny in life are only possible in Christ and through His wisdom and grace.
- Bible Based Education
The Bible is the only true and infallible Word of God, the full and complete revelation of
God's truth for all people. Jesus Christ, the living Word, has given us the Bible, His written Word, as His truth and the basis of true education. The Bible is the only foundation on which we can build our lives, educate our minds, and develop our spiritual relationship with Jesus Christ for all eternity.
- Partnering with Parents
The first institution created by God was the family, and parents are the primary authority
that God has entrusted with the care, nurture, and education of children. The school must serve the parents and assist them with the development of their children, never usurping their authority but partnering with them as they fulfill their personal mandate to raise godly children.
- Part of the Local Church
The Church is the Body of Christ in the earth (1 Cor. 12:27) and the pillar and foundation
of the truth (1 Tim. 3:15). As His Body, the Church is the physical manifestation of Jesus Christ in the earth and His instrument through which He reveals Himself to mankind. As the pillar and foundation of the truth, the Church upholds God's Word and is the instrument through which He teaches mankind. To be fully effective in revealing God and teaching His Word, a school must be an integral part of the local church and an outreach of it.
